The Lighthouse, owned by Greene King, closed in 2010 and was later demolished and replaced by flats. It used to be called Sam Lords as well as the Hungry Horse?  Do you have any stories or pictures of this pub to share?

  • I remember the Lighthouse as a restaurant in the 1970s. I worked in the Midland bank in Hadleigh 1972 to 1976 and one year we had our Christmas dinner there. My boyfriend’s band also played there once.

  • When I was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, I remember this as the Lighthouse Restaurant.  I seem to remember it going down the ‘wine bar path’ to get a liquor license as a ‘licensed premises’ (like the Cutley Lynch in Thundersley).  The only time I remember going in was in the early / mid 80s when back from university.  It didn’t impress and I didn’t go back – I went to the Zack Wilsher instead.
