This event was attended by veterans and serving officers, the Mayor, councillors and staff.
Afterwards Sgt Robert “Billy” Moore, a soldier from the lst Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment, unveiled a new plaque in the atrium of the Council Offices in remembrance of all those from the Borough who have given their lives in conflicts over the years.
Sgt Moore from Westcliff was awarded the prestigious MilitaryCross for bravery while serving in Afghanistan. This is the third highest honour a soldier can be given for bravery, behind the Victoria Cross and the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross.
