  • I would very much like to be put in touch with Jane Gerber. I am part of the Harling/Crozier line. Thank you.

  • Leonard John Crozier’s second family:  Daphne (1929 – 2015) and Yvonne (1930 – 2010).  Daphne (Wardle) had 3 children – Linda, Jennie and Mellie (Melanie).  Yvonne (Jones) had 4 children:  Margaret, David, Stephen and Yvette.  The Jones’ lived in South Benfleet – we went to South Benfleet Infants and Junior School, then to King John in Shipwrights Drive, Thundersley.  I was born in Oakfield Road, South Benfleet.  As a student I worked in the Hoy & Helmet pub – my mother said it was my grandfather’s (Leonard John’s) local.  I was at University of Sussex in Brighton.  My mother later told me that my grandfather died at the old General Hospital (the former workhouse) in Brighton in 1949.

  • I have been trying to contact Natalie Crozier for 5 years, since Ian Shepperd told me about her.  I am the grandson of Leonard John Crozier via the ‘second family’ he had with Dorothy Harling.  Leonard Aubrey Crozier would be my half-uncle.

  • Hello Natalie, we are distant relatives and I would love to get in touch to tell you what we know about your grandfather.

Do let me know if you are interested.

  • I know its been almost 2 years but I never got in contact with Margaret and would still like to. Is it possible to pass my email address on to her? or vice versa?

(Natalie, as requested, your email address has been sent to Margaret – Editor)

  • I was most interested to find this site as it has answered many questions, Neville McAllen was not Air Crew and we wondered why he was flying. Test Flight it seems. Ronald had a brother, Neville and a sister Nancy Elizabeth. Nancy married George Lewis and they had one daughter Joan, my wife who lives with me on the Isle of Wight. She is the last living relation who can remember Ron and speaks very fondly of him. What a shame we have only just found you and are too late for the presentation of the plaque. However, no doubt we will ty to visit it and see it for ourselves sometime, but meanwhile is there a photo of it which could be forwarded to her? Best wishes and a belated Happy New Year to you all.

  • I would be interested to be in touch with Natalie as she has requested. How might we achieve this? Thank you.

  • My grandfather was Ivor Derick Crozier, brother of Leonard Aubrey Crozier aka Snowy. I was wondering if anyone could help me out, as we were unaware that Aubrey and Ivor had any half sisters? Did their father Leonard John remarry after his marriage to my great grandmother Wilhemina Blanche? Look forward to hearing or seeing a reply

  • My mother was Aubrey’s half sister. She lived in South Benfleet until she died in July 2010. Her older sister survives her.

  • Leonard Aubrey Crozier was my father. My mother remarried (Robert Charles Idle – another Benfleet boy) and lived in Benfleet until about 1990.

My father was a test pilot and died in an air crash on 14 October 1944 at Capel Iwan, Newcastle Emlyn, Wales. The local council have paid for a memorial plaque in the village square in honour of his death and that of the other crew member, LAC Ronald McAllen. The official unveiling of the plaque is on 14 July 2012 at 14.00 and quite a few relatives of both my father and Ronald McAllen will be attending.
