Views across Boyce Hill Golf Course

Views from Hill Road

Taken in the 1960s and 1970s

These pictures were taken in the 1960s and 1970s from the top of Hill Road looking towards Boyce Hill Golf Course and the surrounding area.

The golf course itself has changed since then, as new trees have been planted in various areas meaning many of the surrounding houses can no longer be seen from the course.

Tournaments were held at the course during this time and in some of the pictures you can see the marquees that were erected for the event, together with many of the golfers.

The last picture was taken on a footpath of the golf course, my father’s much loved dog, Ricky, carries the daily paper back from the newsagents in Benfleet High Road.  In the background winding away in the distance, is Hill Road.  At the very top left of the picture, on the horizon, ‘Jarvis Hall’ is visible.
