The Entrance to Paradise

Literary Quotation

“There be many men in London who count Benfleet station as the entrance to paradise”.

So says one J. Runciman in his 1891 book “Rivers of Great Britain; the Thames, from Source to Sea; Descriptive, Historical, Pictorial” and who are we to argue!

However he was referring to the excellent shooting to be had on Canvey at that time.
