Kents Hill Road/London Road - Junction Improvements

A Bus Driver's Worst Nightmare

ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

In the early 1970s Castle Point Council took these pictures before improvements were made to the junction of London Road/Kents Hill Road.

This traffic light controlled junction was widened to allow buses and larger vehicles to safely make the turn, without crossing the carriageway into oncoming traffic.

Today, the newsagents that stood on the corner of Kents Hill Road/London Road on the east side is no longer there and in recent months a new bus lane has also been added to the London Road.

  • Ah lovely. Just up the road from where I used to live. Buses were proper buses in those days. Is Reg Varney driving one of those FLF’s?
