Benfleet Station

Benfleet station has always had a taxi rank situated in the High Street serving the local area. The mode of transport has changed over the years as can be seen from the attached photographs.

The first photograph with the ponies and traps was taken about 1920 (note the bridge over the railway in the background).

The second photograph was taken about 1965, and shows the signal box more clearly now the bridge has been demolished, and an electric train approaching from Southend.

The last picture shows the taxi rank as it is today in 2010.
