The Artist

Harold Edford Priestley, 1901 – 1990, was a retired headmaster, who moved to Benfleet when he retired on ill-health grounds and became a leading light in the Benfleet and District Historical Society and author of 2 standard works on the history of Benfleet.

In 1991 his family and friends published an anthology of his poems and drawings,of which 5 drawings depicted Benfleet scenes.

There are also 2 further pictures which are printed on aluminium and in consequence are not up to the usual standard..our apologies.
