Laindon & District Community Archive, 26th March 2011

Launch Event at Laindon Library

The Laindon & District Community Archive launched their Archive on Saturday 26th March 2011. The Archive team had arranged a number of displays showing all aspects of Laindon history from Mesolithic times, through, shop histories, bus histories, and many other pictures.

The Archive team had all dressed up in period costumes and spoke to anybody and everybody about Laindon History, and how people could contribute to it.

Their Chairman, Ken Porter, started proceedings by describing what the Archive was about.

The Archive was officially opened by local comedian Joe Goodman who regaled the audience with tales of Laindon life from when he was born onwards, interspersed with some of his classic one-liner jokes. He formally opened the Archive by pressing a key on a computer to symbolically open it.

The Laindon & District Community Archive is a sister Archive to our own in SEECAN and we look forward to working with them over the coming years.
