A Day out at Clacton? for Benfleet Children

Lily Pigrome: family and friends

The lovely picture was brought into Benfleet Library by Rose Rawlings showing a day out for Benfleet children. We think the seaside was Clacton and the picture is from the late 1940’s early 1950’s.

Her husband John Rogers has added the following information:

  • The Pigrome family lived in Homefields Road.
  • The Rawlings family lived in a shop on the junction of Croft Road and High Road.
  • The Butler family lived in Southwold Crescent. Sadly Tony Butler is no longer with us.
  • The Carter family lived in Hatley Gardens.
A day out at Clacton? Lily Pigrome is the adult at the rear. The chidren left to right are Eileen Rawlings, Valerie Butler, Brian Carter, Pat Pigrome, Rose Rawlings and Tony Butler
