Gloster Meteor jet crash

Philmead Road, 12th April 1952

On the 12th April 1952 a Gloster Meteor jet plane crashed into the back garden of houses in Philmead Road after the pilot had safely bailed out.

  • I remember this very well, it hit right in the corner of four gardens and killed all the chickens that had a chicken house in the corner.
