Among some pictures in the Priestley collection was this coloured engraving from 1832 of Hadleigh Castle. It shows the castle ruined much as today with a view down the Thames towards Southend with a number of ships sailing.
It was drawn by William Henry Bartlett (1809 to 1854) who was noted for producing pictures which were then engraved.
It was engraved by Charles Mottram (1807–1876) a well know engravere.
It was published by George Virtue (1794 – 1868) of 26 Ivy Lane, London on the 1st April 1832.
