In this photograph, front row, are Herbert George Wines (2nd from left) and Charlie Neale (4th from left).

Charlie would often tell the tale of a young lad in WWI trenches who found a couple of Mills bombs.  In ignorance he removed the ‘pins’ from both before putting the bombs in his pockets. Luckily, only the pressure of his clothes prevented a nasty accident! His comrades carefully retrieved them and replaced the pins.
