Just a few weeks ago an appeal was launched to raise funds to restore the weathervane to it’s rightful position atop the tower of St. Mary’s Church. The target was quickly reached thanks to very generous Benfleet residents and plans put in place to carry the work out.

Eagle eyed residents may have noticed scaffolding as they approached the church and wondered what was going on!
Yes, just over three years since it was toppled from it’s lofty position by a particularly nasty storm our Weathervane cockerel is back where he belongs. Hopefully for another century or more!
