Below is a photo of my Great-granddad, Herbert Read, in his cart whilst on his milk delivery round. His round went all the way along the London Road. On the cart it says F.W. Clement so the photo would have been taken before Clement dairy amalgamated with Howard’s Dairies.
The second photo is of My Great-granddad holding me. It was taken next to the Elms dairy depot. He lived in a bungalow next to the dairy where he was manager for around 30 years, having worked his way up from his delivery job.

Was just looking about Howard’s dairy and saw your comments, my dad was Laurie Shipway. I myself worked in the laboratory at the elms bottling plant for 2 years in the early 70’s before it closed
Susan is this Herbert Charles Read or Herbert Robert Read? Was he married to a Broomfield (Helen/Halan/Nell)?
